3 Month Progress Report

Shaun and I have come so far in the travel blogging community within the past 3 months. I figured I would share our little successes along the way! Celebrate the small victories!

  • We reached the 3 month marker and we are still going strong! I haven’t had the urge to give up yet so you guys will continue to see us. Not only have I learned how to create a webpage, but I have learned Marketing and Branding on the fly. Please note that the current incarnation of the blog was created 2 1/2 months ago, but I’m including the period of time that I was on a WordPress.com blog as well. 🙂
  • We now have 500 followers on Twitter. This was absolutely phenomenal. I never really thought we would reach this milestone so quickly. To infinity and beyond!
  • Our blog is coming along. 22 posts, 16 pages, and 184 comments later I feel as though I have climbed a mountain and am looking back with accomplishment. My mountain my be a hill from the perspective of most but I am so proud of all the hard work we have put into Over Yonderlust.
  • We had our highest traffic day this past week. 211 unique visitors, 479 page views. WOO!
  • 172 “Likes” on Facebook. While my family and friends are huge supporters of my endeavors, I am glad to report that quite a few of my fans are not people I know directly.
  • We have reached 35% of our savings goal. We’ve been working hard and it is nice to see progress with out savings account.

Below are a few things that are up and coming:

  • We find out today or tomorrow if Shaun gets a promotion at work. The outcome of this will decide if I become a full time blogger/photographer. This will allow me to focus my attention on the blog more, increase my network, and most of all, get to know you guys better in general. 🙂 This also gives me the opportunity to realize my photography dream. I will be a full time artist/blogger/housewife. 😀
  • Burning Man: 60 days until we start our road trip along the Southwest United States. This will take us from Austin, Texas, through Phoenix, Arizona, up through the Grand Canyon, into Las Vegas, and finally into the Black Rock desert, Nevada.
  • Posts soon about general Central/South America preparation. Looking forward we still have Visas to sort out, plane tickets to be bought, vaccinations to be had, a more permanent birth control solution (no babies while backpacking please), and general planning and merriment to ensue.

  1. Well done with the traffic, that’s brilliant.

Also good luck to Shaun for the job, seems like it’s a win win for you both!

  2. Thank you! All I know is that people really liked my penguin picture. I’m not going to complain there! I still need to learn so much – especially from you guys ♥

  3. That’s a great 3 month progress report. Hopefully you can celebrate Shaun’s promotion at Burning Man this year! You guys regular burners? Dee and I are planning to go in 2012, a little planning for the summer desert conditions are needed. And if the world does end, mind as well blow it out with the man =)

  4. Thanks! This is actually our first year at the playa so we’re really excited. We’ve been wanting to check it out for 10 years now! 2012 eh? Bring it in with a party!

  5. Congratulations!! Sounds like you guys are on the right track. I just passed my one month mark and am excited as well. It’s a tiring process that takes patience. Keep with it as you guys are doing a great job with this site!!

  6. You aren’t doing too bad yourself Adam. <3 Its nice to have training wheels on with other people. Its nice to compare notes and to give feedback/comments. 🙂

I am normally not a patient person so you can imagine that this has driven me bonkers.

  7. Its massive in mine lol. I normally don’t come close to that at ALL. Thank you for your support! It means alot coming from you. 🙂

  8. Amazing progress and congratulations:) We haven’t hit the 3month mark yet but can only dream of the traffic you’re getting:) Ah, when you officially become an artist/blogger/housewife, can you be my tutor??

  9. Elena: I can try to give as much advice as possible but I honestly have no clue how I do it? The website has taken a million hours to do. I can only imagine how much the upkeep on others is. :X
    Beth: Thank you! ♥

  10. Great job Erica and Shaun! This was a great recap and very encouraging, good to see that hard work pays off. I’ve just passed my one month mark and am looking forward to more ahead. Thanks for the encouraging post.
