Balls.

There. I said it. I know you were thinking it so now we can move on to bigger and better things.

Like Love Balls.

Love Balls 1

SHOVE THEM IN MY MOUTH. No really, these things are addictive and delicious as all hell. Stop your giggling. I’m serious.

After our romp in Japan in 2008 I became hilariously addicted to Japanese cuisine – in particular, takoyaki.

Tako = Octopus
Yaki =  Grilled or Fried

In this case, batter dipped octopus balls deep fried and covered in a type of mayo.

*obscene moan*

I hadn’t had one for 4 years until I found that one of the Austin food trucks specialized in them.

And my thoughts? Well, it definitely isn’t Osaka on a plate but they are still pretty damn good and will be able to hold me off for sure. Perfectly crispy on the outside and the bonito flakes piled high, I’m sure I will be craving these again sometime soon.

The hard thing is that there are 1500+ Austin food trucks. How am I supposed to try them all?!

…but I did find one food truck with okonomiyaki…
