There is nothing quite like Ms. P’s Electric Cock (I HAD to). I mean, how can you not giggle when you say that name? But look a little deeper and you will find some of the best freaking fried chicken in Austin – and that is quite the feat.
It starts with a small grumble in your tummy – that oh-so-familiar feeling that you need to ingest copious amounts of fried chicken goodness. I have been avoiding it due to the pure fat amount, but I could hold off no more. The smell pulled me in and refused to let go. These Southern-style fried chicken pieces are brought to you by Ms. P, a West Texas native that has oh-so-graciously allowed us to taste her grandmother’s recipe. This place is definitely on my “Must Hit List” as they are not only delicious, but are part of the Farm to Fork mentality – something I can always get behind.
This is what we ordered:
2 Piece Crispy Fried Chicken: Spicy & juicy, made with Ms P’s electric love. Served with roll & jalapeño.
Hen Scratch Slider: Boneless chicken tenderloins with slaw on a sweet roll
Truffle Mac & Cheese: Cheesy goodness baked with seasoned bread crumbs, drizzled with truffle aioli
I’m a huge fan of dark meat and I was tickled pink that our two piece Crispy Fried Chicken came with a drumstick and a wing. I snatched up the wing so quickly, Shaun had no time to even say which he preferred. I just starting eating it voraciously. One of my favorite things in the world is Southern-style fry for chicken. There is something about the texture and the taste that really does it for me. Add in the tender and juicy chicken on top of it and I was immediately on cloud 9. Don’t forget to munch on the pickled jalapenos they give you. It really takes it to the next level.
But the real winner out of all our entrees were the Hen Scratch Sliders (it comes with two). Holy bejeezus were they great. The biscuits were fluffy and sweet, and the tenders were juicy and not overdone. I’m always hesitant to order tenders due to the prevalence of dry tasteless things that come out of so many family restaurants. But these – *SWOON*. And the slaw – oh the SLAW – was fabulous. A little on the sweeter side with a bit of a twang, I was a little disappointed we didn’t also order it as a side.
Unfortunately the mac and cheese didn’t do it for me even though I’m a huge fan of truffle oil. I think my taste buds may have been broken or something because while I struggled tasting the truffles, Shaun said he was overwhelmed with the taste. The mac and cheese was delightfully creamy but ultimately we ended up dousing it in Cholula to make it a little more Shaun and Erica style. I don’t blame the mac and cheese. I just don’t think it is our thing. I think next time we will go with the Waffles or the Mexican Street Corn.
Score: 4 out of 5
Cost: ~$20.70
Ordered: 2 piece chicken, sliders, truffle mac and cheese, and a Mexican Coke (of course)
Favorite thing: Sliders
Least favorite thing: Truffle Mac and Cheese
Type of food: FRIED CHICKEN AMAZINGNESS

P.S. It was REALLY HARD (HA) to not completely fill this entire post with inappropriate jokes. YAY euphemisms!
That is it! Take me with you next time… you guys eat too well and have way too much fun for just 2 people.
Love the truck’s signage btw… quite a claim! *laugh*
Sounds wonderful. But, alas, you did hear that they were going to start using corn syrup in the Mexican Cokes, didn’t you? Signs of the apocalypse.
I LOVE it. These owners have a way to my heart with 12-year-old humor. I would invite you out with us but we are mainly heading out to eat on Friday afternoons and I thought you have a 9-5? Maybe if we go on a Saturday I’ll bug you?
Yes, we heard. SHAME ON THEM. SHAAAAAAAAAME.
Definitely down for a Saturday but maybe some Friday I’ll get a spontaneous headache – say, around 11:00 and have to leave the office early *laugh*
Best restaurant name ever!!! It looks seriously delicious.
This looks exactly the kind of spot I’d like to visit on a road trip; it looks tasty, local and not too expensive. Love the photos.
That chicken looks awesome. Now i am REALLY hungry.
Oh man, I am so jealous, you get to eat there.
I confess, I opened this post because of the name of the food truck:D
We maybe be passing through Austin later this month, I’ll have to remember this as I “love” fried chicken. Pretty easy name to remember!
It is outstanding! We don’t have many trailers we want to go to again (not because they aren’t good but because there are a gazillion) and this is one the list.
Thanks Stuart! I think we feel lucky when we can both go out to eat at a fab establishment for less than $20.
Sorry! (And YAY I did my job.)
Well, I would HOPE SO. I mean, how can you NOT?
If you guys need ANY advice, please feel free to email us!
After seeing your photos I am feeling hungry. Its YAMMMMMMMMMMY. Can’t wait to eat them!!
Looking forward to checking out Austin’s food trucks when we head down there!
So bad for you, but I don’t care … that look freakin’ amazing! droollllll…
I stumbled across your blog while looking up things to do for my first visit to Austin next month. After looking through it, I’m now even more super excited for my first Austin visit! The only problem (which is always my problem) is how to eat ALL THE THINGS 😀
Have you gone yet?!
Hit me up when you get down here an I will be more than happy to throw a few suggestions!
YAY! Yes, ALL THE THINGS is hard. If you ever need any suggestions for something in particular, please feel free to hit me up. <3
ALL THE THINGS!!!!

D’AWWWWWWW…. I love my hometown and I’m glad you do as well!
Great Article! One question does the actual frying of the chicken take place on premise or is it done in comissary/home kitchen and heated on premise? Can’t wait to make this pilgrimage!
