Can’t Contain the Happiness – Burning Man Inspiration

Burning Man has officially taken over my mind and I’m constantly looking for Burning Man inspiration as a way to continue the “feels” off the playa.

Welcome to my daily life over the past few months (not including the chaos and delight of the Texas Souk Project).

  • Impromptu dance attacks.
  • Poetry floating through my head.
  • The realization that Shaun was right and that I should own a thimble. (ouch)
  • Annoying neighbors with BASS.
  • Attaching fur to my bike.
  • Packing trailers.
  • Hemming pants.
  • Bedazzling everything.
  • El Wire.
  • Hooping.
  • Maps.
  • Embracing FOMO.
  • Anxiety attacks!
  • MORE MUSIC!
  • Happiness.
  • Depression.
  • More dancing.
  • More hooping.
  • Lots of beer.
  • More costuming.
  • Late nights.
  • Panicked calls.
  • …and indescribable GLEE and JOY.

I honestly have no words to describe the feeling in my heart right now as the butterflies in my stomach invade my soul.

So while I jam out to music, waves of nostalgia sweeping over me, I look for inspiration. I look to the past to bring a smile to my face for the future. And luckily, I found a delightful photographer that was nice enough to allow me to share his experience last year.

Welcome to the images that are helping me get through the default world and to the embrace of the dust of the playa this next week.

  1. Have fun out there! Do you know Kristin (Be My Travel Muse)? She is also going to BM this year, believe it’ll be her first time though. I won’t be, unfortunately. Headed back to Asia. So yeah be sure to have fun for those of us who cannot make it. Maybe I’ll see ya at Flipside next year 😉

  2. Wow! Erica, after seeing these photos it’s taken over my imagination too.
I just can’t get enough and keep scrolling through. The craftsmanship is incredible!

  3. Amazing photos! This year there was a representative of the Burning Man at the Portuguese Boom festival, talking about alternative and artistic festivals around the world.

  4. I can’t believe you’ve been there! That’s pure magic, can’t be part of this world… (: It caught me too, I need to visit it to bless my senses with such an spectacle…!

  5. Wonderful photos you got here Erica… Burning Man is becoming more and more popular than ever. Been amazed to know they got more than 67,000 participants this year… 🙂

  6. Those are some EPIC photos I must say. I’ve heard so much about Burning Man these past couple of years. Really want to get out there one of these years.

  7. So, I’ve wanted to go to Burning Man for about the last 5 or 6 years now… and your photos just sold me on it COMPLETELY! You captured it soooo beautifully! I only wish we had things like that closer to home (Thailand), as it’s a long trek from here – but it seems the journey only just begins ‘after’ you arrive 😉

  8. Absolutely! While I wish I could take credit for the pictures, they were created by the amazingly talented Jonathan Clark!

You should go at least once. Took me about 10 years to get there initially. 😀
