Also known as one of my favorite ways to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon, chicken shit bingo is probably one of the most amazing experiences you can have in Austin, Texas. This past time can be found at the iconic Ginny’s Little Longhorn Saloon a bit north of downtown and has oodles of personality.
Picture this:
The sexy crooner Dale Watson doing his honkytonk best (oh yes, I have a huge crush on the man – pompadour, tattoos, voice… and he rides a motorcycle – *drool*), two-stepping ladies and gents dancing their hearts out, free hot dogs, $2 Lone Stars… and a table with numbers on it just waiting for a chicken to take a crap on it.
“It is time to buy your tickets!” Dale announces ever so smoothly between songs.
At $2 a pop (and you are only allowed to buy one per person per round), 50-some people line up for their chance at glory, a lottery of where the chicken will place its “goods”.
And honestly, I don’t think I could accurately describe the electric energy in the air, or the anticipation of every person clutching onto their ticket for a win of $100+. I say I would take my chances too.
