Episode 7 – Momentos: Mexico

We have finally left Mexico and to sum it up in a video just doesn’t do our experiences justice. Regardless, I compiled all 11 weeks of footage into a video that I’m terribly in love with. This is probably my most favorite video to date and I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. Please feel free to share it with your friends and loved ones.

I left a piece of my heart in Mexico and I’m glad I have something visual to remind me of the amazing times we had there.

I really started to get to know myself, my family history, and where I want Mexico to take a place in my future.

  1. I’m only a minute or so in, and I already like the bird in the surf, the picture frames, and the wrestlers. Love it!

  2. Ok, iguana in a fountain = awesome, as does the diving in a cave. Dayum, I must get back to the land of my grandmother!

  3. Me and mom just watched and we think its great! Great camera work and editing, VERY NICE!!!

  4. Oh man I love it. Great job on putting it all together. I think I love it even more because in a few of those I was there with y’all and experienced it as well.

I miss yall both. Hope Xela is treating yall well!!!

  5. @Phil: Thank you! I’m so very much in love with it right now. As for software, I *was* using Final Cut Pro but my Mac is pushing 6 years old with only 100 gigs on it and it was unable to render anything due to lack of space (and overheating) so I had to go back to iMovie since it is much kinder on my HD. I wish I could upgrade but another Mac is just not in the stars for a while.

  6. @Jaime: Thank you! Is it weird to see the familiar places? I’m so incredibly happy with how this came out. I’m hoping that all of ours come out like this in the future!

  7. Great job with the video. Love the music, editing, everything. I now want a water fountain and an Iguana to sit in it! Look forward to watching more. 🙂

  8. This is a great love letter to your Mexico! I LOVE the iguana in the fountain, the people dancing in the streets, the gorgeous beaches of Tulum. You definitely make me want to experience Mexico. Great job!! <3

  9. Wow – Great job! I love this one Erica – the light in the caves and the beaches are unbelievable! This will be great for you to look back on for the rest of your life. 🙂

  10. @Bethany: If I wasn’t freezing to death in the cold cave water I think I would have spent more time looking at the light. Hanging out in cenotes without the sun gets a wee bit chilly. I think when we are done with this trip I’m making a DVD and a book of our writings. 🙂

  11. @Sonia: Thank you! I’m definitely testing the waters to see what I like when it comes to the momentos series.

  12. I love your video guys but you are so right it doesn´t do the subject justice I have been living in mexico for four years and have had the opportunity to visit sixteen different states. And no amount of footage can quite describe the cultural diversity and warmth that you experience in this country. My advice….come visit don´t let the negative publicity hold you back this counrty is overall safer than the states and people are sooo friendly.

  13. It really is hard to get across “what” Mexico is. I love it there. I wish we could have spent more time but as we only had so much money to get to Argentina, we had to move on. <3
