Exposure: Umbrella

Three years ago I undertook a 365 Days project that changed my life and my photography career. Not only did I learn my capabilities with light, but learned by camera on a whole new level.

Beth from Beers and Beans nagged me until I posted these pictures so here they are – a peek into my portraiture life and into me a bit.

Three years ago we had a rainy November that inspired this photo. I hope you enjoy!

  1. Id love to learn more about how to use my camera better and play with light also.. Love this shot!

  2. Love this picture and the idea behind it.
It is like time stopped under the umbrella..I need something like that.
Looking forward to the next portrait!

    Cheers~

  3. Great portrait! The perspective feels super personal, great capture. What are the specks of light in the image. It gives an amazing illusion that it’s raining – perfection feel for the shot!!

  4. Wait, I just noticed you put a string of lights inside the umbrella. Really cool effect, seriously.

  5. Thanks Bessie (and thank you for sharing on Twitter!). I definitely played around quite a bit with lighting during this project and learned a LOT.

  6. I love this shot!!! Lighting, your smile, the colors. Awesome. Nothing feels better than when a photo comes together and truly becomes art!
