E-Book Review: How to Become a House Sitter

We’ve thought about it.

We’re slow travelers. What better way to support our lifestyle than to get into house-sitting? How does one become a house sitter?

Enter Pete and Dalene Heck of Hecktic Travels:

They have opened my eyes to what can be accomplished with this lifestyle. We’re responsible. We’re quiet. We like animals. This can be the life for us, right?

The only thing is that it can be a bit overwhelming to get started. I mean, how the hell are you supposed to know how to go about starting something like this? Where to begin? How do you get people to vouch for you? Where can we stay? How do we write our profile?! What site do we use?

Every question I had was answered in their extensive and detailed “How to Become a House-sitter: And See the World!” e-book.

Are you curious if this can be something for you? Check it out. It gives the perspective of both the house owners and the house-sitters.

At 51 pages, this book is super comprehensive. Simple and easy to navigate, Pete and Dalene really get to the nitty gritty you need to know to get involved. Not only do they make it super easy to understand, but I feel like I’m talking to a peer while they are doing it. They’re honest, give great suggestions, and even go into both the pros AND cons about it. It love it. Not everything can be positive all the time, right?

And the best thing ever? They give you a check list of things to ask your potential house owner before you start your extended house sitting.

…and after the reading the e-book, I’m still fairly positive that even with our tattoos and piercings, we can still find a perfect house-sitting situation for both parties.

We’ll keep you updated on how it turns out. All I know is that we’re excited with the prospects.

  1. We have been looking into this since last year but I had already agreed to be in Oz and I got a temp place but we are registered with 4 places and have some cool stuff coming up for next year!
Windwalker Duo- there are so many places to house sit in Europe, and lots of places are kid friendly. Also, the rates per year are really not that high…you can be a member of 4 sites and keep it under $200 a year. Good luck with applying guys! I would be happy to give you a reference. Let me know.
