The New NEW Packing List

As we sit here waiting for our friend to pick us up and take us to the airport, I can’t help but focus on that sickly feeling of bundled nerves in my stomach. The butterflies have turned into a mass of locusts and I can’t believe we’re about to head out on another big trip.

The different this time?

It is going to be mofo-ing COLD in Alaska, Iceland, and Europe.

I live in Austin for a reason. So you can imagine how freaking difficult it was to pack when Shaun and I don’t even have winter clothes.

So, in true Over Yonderlust fashion, like our previous packing list with llamas with lasers, I give you, BEARS WITH GOOGLY EYES.

Shaun

Wish us luck.

Also, keep an eye out on our Facebook page as I will be updating it with daily pictures from our journeys!

  1. Thinking you may regret not bringing your peacoat. Then again, I’m a huge wimp when it comes to cold weather and my toes go numb and my hands turn purple (true story) if I’m anywhere under 40 degrees. When I was in Northern England in March one year, I convinced myself I didn’t need to bring a jacket because it took up too much space and it can’t be THAT cold. I ended up buying a jacket the second day we were there. Oops. Hopefully you’ll be fine – and warm! Looking forward to reading about your winter adventures. 🙂

  2. I meant ‘that’s not bad at all’, I need to check better before posting comments! 🙂

  3. You will be fine. If it gets too cold just do what the locals do and drink hot beverages or Schnaps! 🙂

  4. If worse comes to worse on the cold weather then you’ll just have to keep each other warm 😉

    Have fun and be safe!

  5. Don’t worry too much about the cold. Layers are the way to go – I was wearing 4 layers when I went to Lithuania in February and it was – 26C/-27C (which I didn’t anticipate or I’d never have gone!) Then again some may argue that my body hair constitutes a layer in its own right.

  6. Gotta love the googly eyes! Shaun has a pretty heavy jacket and I have up to 5 layers of clothes. We just don’t own anything that has to do with cold. We live in Austin! 😛

  7. ?! While I’m miserable in less than 40 degrees, I can’t imagine my toes going numb! After Alaska I think I have a handle on things. We will find out when the wind starts blowing here in Iceland. 😛

  8. There is no way I could do cold at that temperature. That is INSANE. I have 5 layers. I should be okay, right? 😛

  9. Brrr, feeling the cold already!! I know you’ve probably got this somewhere else on the site so just tell me to pay attention and go do my research properly, but what lenses do you take with you?

  10. This time I decided to take everything (which ends up being extremely heavy) but I have a 50mm, 18-50 kit lens, 10-20mm, 70-300mm.

  11. Thank you Helena! As for the backpack, it is a Naneu Pro Urbangear U120. I picked it up from a friend of mine. 🙂
