We arrived to Anchorage, Alaska a bit tired and and a bit confused about how it could only be 12:30am. I forget that traveling into the past gives you a new type of jet lag – we are always going East.

A super quick check in by the friendly clerk at the counter led us to only grab a quick glimpse of the lobby – a cook to order breakfast, a stuffed reindeer’s head (PRANCER, NO!), and a taxidermied bear that everyone kept calling Reggie while posing with him. Kitsch, yes – but AWESOME.
We headed up to the room in a zombie state and what stood before us was like a dream come true. Clean, to the point, inviting, and affordable to boot and you have a winning combination. The Hilton Garden Inn have it down to a fine art. A quick caress of the coffee machine, I said adieu and goodnight knowing I was going to have a decent morning.
I woke up to not decent, but freaking amazing. Their cook to order breakfast was AH.MA.ZING! Shaun ordered pancakes with a cascade of whipped cream and bananas while I ordered a plate of eggs with all the fixins – mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes – all with a heaping side of bacon and reindeer sausage. Talk about breakfast of champions – and something we desperately needed before heading out to the glacier to go trekking (post coming soon!).

We rounded out our day in the hot tub found in the pool room. And while our time was cut short (we didn’t seem to notice the no food/drink sign among the plethora of signs adorning the wall) due to our very tame get together in the spa with a 12 pack of PBR (don’t judge.), it was a lovely way to spend the evening relaxing while escaping the chilly night air of Anchorage, Alaska.
Curled up in a soft bed piled high with pillows, Shaun and I watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secret of the Ooze while munching on homemade choco-popcorn and local rootbeer. I couldn’t complain. It was a perfect little get-away for Shaun and I.
Would I go there again? You bet’cha.
Although next time expect me to ravage those eggs benedict. They looked delish.

Disclosure: While we were complimentary guests of the Hilton Garden Inn: Anchorage, all opinions are my own. It is important to my ethical blogging – I wouldn’t steer you wrong!
THERE WAS EGGS BENEDICT? How did i miss this?
OMG! I think Aaron may have posted a million pictures of it. But seriously. They looked awesome.
I’m intrigued by Anchorage–and this hotel looks beautiful–and can’t wait to read more!
Anchorage is definitely interesting! I know they are planning a redesign to make it a bit more swanky but I kinda want them to keep their taxidermy charm!
I had the Eggs Benedict and it was amazing, that is all.
Cool review, it was a fun spot.
That is all.. is it Rob? Really? 😛
