Oh, young love. I’m not sure many of your know this, but Shaun proposed to me in 2003 in an Amy’s Ice Creams photobooth here in Austin, Texas. While I was working there, we had stopped in briefly after dinner to take some photos before heading home. Shaun took a serious gamble. He understood my love for all things vintage (it was rebuilt from 1950), but this specific machine was out of order at least 50% of the time and you were lucky if you actually got your photos.
These are analog selfies. God I feel so hipster saying that. But seriously. This was during a time when flip phones were still a thing. Shaun was 19. I was 20.
During my time there I took well over 100 of these pictures with my friends and coworkers. I feel like they are treasures each time I open up my photo box. <3
And I think I said it best on the message I sent to Shaun on our anniversary:
Today I’ve been married to you, my high school sweetheart and love of my life for 14 years. Can you believe it? 14 freaking years.
With my hubby we have worked hard over the years, constantly pushing each other to be better. We have taken leaps of faith and traveled to 28 countries together. We have saved and worked hard to be able to be in this house. Our dream home. The one that checked all the boxes when we saw it and have been talking about for forever. I love that I’m on the grand adventure of life with you, Shaun. I couldn’t have picked a better partner.
Schmoopy. Schmoop schmoop, schmoop. I love you dearly and I would move mountains for you.
Here is to another 14, hot stuff.
They ARE treasures! Thanks for sharing these. 🙂
Such beautiful photos 🙂 Happy you found your soulmate!
Thank you Sophia! I feel super lucky to have him around and I think he understands me more than just about anyone in the universe. <3
