“I would still like to take you to New Orleans for Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras.” Shaun whispered into my ear while snuggled up in bed.
Shaun had been planning a romantic getaway for us for well over 6 months – and somehow had done it all without me noticing. I can normally read him like a book when he is being sneaky – but well done, sir. WELL DONE.
–To New Orleans–
It is the city that haunts my dreams. I have been obsessed with NOLA since I was a little kid playing the Disney Magic Kingdom game and making sure to hit up New Orleans Square every time and was tickled pink to visit the Haunted Mansion when I went to Disneyland for the first time at 25.
Aside from the child-like fantasy of Disneyland, I’ve been wanting to experience the culture that is so incredibly different from the rest of the United States. I want to dance on the streets and have a piping hot beignet in my hand. I want to see the magic. I want to see the voodoo. I want to hear the lingering music in the air.
I devour anything New Orleans – from the culinary delights and my love for good cooking, to my obsession with crawfish boils, and the goosebumps I get when watching Treme. And that is really the tip of the iceberg.
In the 16 years that Shaun and I have been together, this very well may be the most romantic thing he’s ever done for me.
He is taking me to a place of my dreams.

Ooooohhhhhh, fancy! I’m sure you’ll be inundated with recommendations but the rabbit and sausage jambalaya at Coops on Decatur is incredible!

Nice One. Have followed on Instagram to share the fun.
New Orleans is a great choice for a fun romantic getaway! The city has so much soul. I’m sure you’ll love it. Make sure you try ‘gator on a stick’ when you visit the French Market… Look forward to hearing how you get on.
