Inspiration for YOUR Career Break - Meet, Plan, GO!

I know it has crossed your mind. Those two little words that play around in your subconscious and it won’t let you sleep at night – Career Break. It crossed mine not too long ago and I have recently left my job to not only start a new path, but to journey with my husband to Central and South America for 6+ months. Have you ever wondered how? Meet, Plan, Go is the program for you. On September 14, travelers from around the United States and Canada are meeting up to discuss how to accomplish the adventure of a life [...]

Road Trip to Burning Man: Arizona

After our amazing time in New Mexico, we made a late night trek to Phoenix and found ourselves in Arizona for the next four days. Arizona has a lot to offer in regards to things to do and experience so making out in 4 days is quite a feat. One thing I had not noticed as I got older is that my night vision has gotten exponentially worse than our last road trip… and I’m only 27! I can only image what things are going to be like in the next 10 years! We made it safely to our dear [...]

Road Trip to Burning Man: Day 2

Today was a much better day. Not only was there still some leftover stale bagels and coffee at the Continental Breakfast, but Shaun and managed to not be sick on the road today. Normally we’re pretty healthy eaters and the change to fast food, quick bites and snacks has killed our stomachs. The general plan was to head out to Gila National Forest to the Gila Cliff Dwellings. As a child Gila was the closest area to go and experience “real” camping and I spent countless weekends there hiking, swimming, reflecting, etc. I was ecstatic that I could share such [...]

Road Trip to Burning Man: Day 1

Wow today was a doozy! Both Shaun and I had spent the entirety of last week preparing for this trip every free moment of the day. It was the first time I had seen Shaun visibly stressed out in quite some time. Normally I’m the one that has the small freak outs, but the equilibrium was thrown off and the smallest things started getting to him. Other than Shaun’s unexpected overtime cutting into our road trip schedule (see, scheduling is bad!), it went off without a hitch (although I almost went crazy with the OCD/intricate packing Shaun was doing, making [...]

Road Trip: Burning Man - T-Minus 6 Days

It is crazy when you realize that a trip you have been planning for is right around the corner. I have wanted to participate in Burning Man since the late 90s and the fact that my time has come has me frothing at the mouth. It is crunch time (T-Minus 6 days) and I’m starting to feel the effects – Insomnia, Pre-Travel Jitters, the Worries, etc. After consulting my calendar I have a whirlwind next few days and I am determined to get everything accomplished before we head out. Today I saw the sun rise for the first time since [...]

Our first day in London was spent trying to adjust to the jet lag we were experiencing and talking to our friends about our potential plans for the next week. Our friends Doug and Steph (who live in London) were telling us about this swanky club that was hoppin’ on Sunday nights – The Notting Hill Arts Club. The colors in this bar were awesome and I couldn’t help myself in capturing some of them. To really get the most of the colors in this picture, I suggest Viewing On Black.

Burning Man Costumes - In Pictures

While I am not going to be showing ALL our costumes this time around, I will be showing you how I made our awesome goggles. They caused more bodily harm than I had experienced in a while, so I feel they deserve the most attention.  I will post more pictures next week as I discuss my packing list for Burning Man (and our road trip in general). 1. Start out with an old clock. After an entire day of shopping around second hand stores, we finally hit the jackpot at the last Goodwill closest to our house (should have checked [...]

There was something fantastic, almost magical about the Roman Baths in Bath, UK. The fact that I was walking through history was exciting. Sometimes I forget how incredibly young the United States is. Check out the picture, bigger and on black here.

Featured Travel Photographer: Bethany Salvon

I have to admit. I never thought I would meet so many amazing travel photographers that would inspire me so greatly in the travel blog community. One person that I draw daily inspiration from is Bethany Salvon of Beers & Beans and Nariko’s Nest. Not only does she have a rockin’ travel blog but she also features fantastic photographs that are truly eye candy. Before she head out on her soon to be Round the World (RTW) trip, I thought I would catch up with her before she became too busy becoming a citizen of the world. Tell us a [...]
