If you haven’t been able to tell, I am quite proud of my hometown Austin, Texas. I know I’ve been trying to get quite a few people I’ve met on Twitter to come and visit a few of us gals here in Austin. I figure, why not just kick off a Hometown Tourism section of Over Yonderlust?
This Hometown Tourism post is brought to you by Santa Con/Santa Rampage and the letter “Z” (I dunno it just sounded good there). VIVA LA SANTA CON!
While Santa Con/Santa Rampage is by no means an Austin original, it is celebrated with Austin flair every year. This year I was armed and ready with my Flip to capture the magic. I hope you enjoy!
♥ Happy holidays! ♥
Favorite part — 2 snowmen touching carrot noses!!
cool video
Austin keeps getting cooler and cooler, nice pics!
@Heather: There were so many amazing costumes I wish I could have gotten them all. I had to remember to have fun too though.
@Zablon: Thank you!
@Ayngelina: I love my city! I am yet to find one that compares to its quirks and warmth.
LOVE austin!!! this looks like so much fun erica- so glad you chose to use video. some things you just have to see, right? dig hometown tourism too. more please! 🙂
Great video Erica. Looks like a lot of fun!
Nice video you put together, I never been to Austin and it’s good to know if I do go. I can meet up some super awesome twitter friend and have a great time. Looks like you guys had a great time in Austin with the Santa party going on… haha
@Lorna: ♥ It was a BLAST! I’m still trying to get used to my Flip – I figure I need to get more vids in before the trip starts!
@Beth: Thank you! I felt SO much better editing on my Mac. I really need to get Final Cut Pro back. There are so many things I like to tweak.
@Sarah: We get into as much trouble as we can. It is nice because there is ALWAYS something going on.
i lived in the ft hood killeen temple area up i35 from austin and enjoyed driving to the “big city” to go adventuring it was aleways a great experience, nice city!
@Greg: I know lots of people who make that drive!
One of my big regrets is that I never made it to Texas during the 6 months I spent travelling around the USA. You make it sound awesome!
@Spencer: Every city in Texas differs quite a bit. Every person is so proud of where they are from here!
Loooove it!! I loved my time in Austin, and events like this remind me why!!
Another great place I need to visit in the US. I’m down for a weekend in Austin!!
@Abby: There is so much trouble to be had here! <3
@D: I make a good tour guide!
I unknowingly walked into Santa Con in Seattle last weekend intending to see an old friend perform with his band. It was hilarious, I’d never been surrounded by so many Santas!
@Nicole: You really cannot compete with rowdy Santas! I ran into a group a few years ago, but this year the Santa population keeps growing!
I have heard soo many good things about Austin, and this is icing on the cake. Gotta go there!
@Fede: I would love to show you around (although, expect to gain weight because there is a lot of food and beer to be had)!
I had no idea you were from Austin — I’ll be down there visiting friends in a few weeks. I went to UT long, long ago.
@Michael: I’ve lived here for the past 14 years and still love it every day. I, too, am also a UT alumni! Let me know when you’re in town. I would LOVE to grab a beer. Also, you should let me know who your friends are in the off chance I know them. Austin is the smallest big city ever. 😀
I’m dying to go to Austin. I have some friends there and am planning a road trip this summer to visit. I think I’d love it there 🙂
@Laura: It is a shame that we won’t be here when you come but I’m sure you’ll have a blast! There are SO many places to eat and drink – one of my favorite parts about Austin. 😀 Summer can be a bit oppressive with the humidity and heat, but you seem like a tough lady with your adventures. I’m sure you’ll be fine.
