was it hard to get into Cuba with US passports?
@LA: We went in through Cancun and they don’t care. They love the tourism and the money AND they don’t stamp your passport so you don’t have any proof with you when you go home.
What has been your favorite spot thus far? I want to plan a SA trip as well and seeing this gives me that omph to start working on the plan.
@Joel: That is a hard question for sure! We really LOVED Mexico and probably could have easily stayed there 6 months trying to explore everything. And the food… EEEEeee! Shaun loved Cuba the most though. The people are so awesome there.
hahaha @ “EEEeeee!” I can’t even imagine how good the food is.
Funny how as Americans we are fed the idea that Cuba is such a dangerous place that you might get mugged in. Yet Americans who go there all say how warm the people are.
You guys are awesome!! Wish I was following in your footsteps right now
@Matt: Thanks! We’re having the time of our lives. So weird to think we’re almost out of Central America.
Do you find its hard to keep track of the dates? I imagine that time doesn’t feel the same when you’re traveling long-term.
@Patricia: The only reason I know the date sometimes is because we write blog posts lol.
Hey guys! I bumped into you today on ITB in Berlin by Snowbon stand. Great Blog! I just discovered we were in Cartagena, Colombia and Quito in Ecuador on exactly same days! The world is such a small place:) All my best!
Ooo! I love that the world is small. How awesome! So you were in Cartagena during their Independence as well?! WASN’T IT CRAZY?!
Insane it was!! But I loved every minute of it. I ended up staying there for the whole week:) Here is my post from Cartagena and right at the bottom a photo of me and friends and how we looked like after the foam battle:)

just curious, how much money did you guys save up before you went on your adventures? I plan on doing a round the world trip too, but I’m not sure how much money I need to save up to allow me to travel for 6 -8 months.
If you’re doing third world countries, people generally suggest $1000/month per person. We did it on $1500 a month for two. 🙂
