I can’t believe that it has already been three months since we got back from Mexico. While I am loving having a home base here in Austin, Texas, my itchy feet are still very alive. In short, I’m getting a bad case of “GET ME OUTTA HERE!” – even if it is just for a little while.
And just in the nick of time we have a couple of things we’re looking forward to over the next couple of months. (Good thing too because I was starting to go a little nutty.)
August 19-23: San Mateo County & Silicon Valley
I’m heading out West to check out what there is to see and do with the lovely people at the San Mateo County Silicon Valley Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. We hit 25 consecutive days over 100F/38C and I’m ready to grab my hoodie for some 70F/21C weather. California here I come!
September 6-8: Portland, OR
We’re heading to our sister city, Portland! Shaun and I have never been to Oregon before and I can’t wait to feast my eyes on some greenery, great food trucks, and a bike in movie with Hostelling International USA. Do you guys have any suggestions for what we should do while there? Would you like to meet up for a beer at one of the many breweries (that I plan on parking myself at)?
September 16-18: Washington DC
I don’t know how on earth I keep finding myself here but this time it is for an AMAZING purpose. I, Erica, get to be the badass wedding photographer for some of my favorite people in the whole wide world – Mike (Art of Adventuring) and Steph (Twenty-Something Travel). I’m sure there will be shenanigans. I cannot wait to be there for one of the most important days of their lives.
October 18-21: Rockdale, TX
Remember Flipside? We’re heading back out to Rockdale for Art Outside, an art festival with music, live performance art, painting, vendors, hoopers, DJs, aerial silks, dancing… and well, everything that makes me feel glad that I’m alive. Not really sure if I’m going to document that one. I’m starting to realize that, while I love this blog, I do tend to miss out on just experiencing.
And if we can get our air conditioning fixed, we’re hoping to get some time out in Marfa, Texas along with Big Bend National Park for some camping and possible rafting. There is so much to do in Texas and I can’t wait to show you more!
While I do love having a paycheck coming in, I can tell that I’m definitely a gypsy at heart and need to get away every now and then. What are your upcoming plans? What adventures do YOU have planned?
Bon Voyage and if you get the chance while in Portland, scoot to the coast and check out Oswald West – definitely a nice day trip and gorgeous.
Sounds like it will be a fun couple of months! I can’t wait to see your photos from the wedding!!
I feel your pain! Since you have to apply for Russian visas in your home country and we don’t live in the US, we’re going on 2 months without our passports. I can’t wait to be reunited, which should be just in time to board our flight to Moscow!
I would love to visit Portland! That’s awesome that you get to take a trip up there. I’m getting itchy feet, but a suppose a weekend to Virginia Beach counts as something?
YAY! So excited about Cali (and DC of course)! Now I just have to persuade you to come visit us down in Mexico…
GASP…..Going to Oregon and not stopping in Eugene? The HORROR!!! One of my favorite places in the US! We are posting about our time there pretty soon, my bff lives there. Wine, beer and greatness. And small town. Maybe you can squeeze in a few days there?
Please don’t kill me but since you are asking we are stoked for new travel plans! 3rd week of September I’m going back to Egypt-then Greece for 3 weeks- Malta for a week- then landing in Amsterdam mid November…as Jaime would say EEeeee!!
And congrats on your wedding gig, you must be stoked dude. I wonder how many bloggers are going to be there? Like a mini tbex?
Still waitin for that day when we shall meet yall on the road somewhere? Maybeee yall can come to Amsterdam?
What amazing adventures you have coming up yay!!!
If we can get out there, definitely. We’re only there for 3 days though!
EWWWWW…. I’m not sure how I would feel without my passport being abroad. Good luck guys!
Definitely. You gotta take anything!
Pft. We’re already there (in our minds).
We will probably try to come back because we only have 3 days there (and have no car).
As for Amsterdam, I WISH but our ridiculous credit card bills are currently being taken care of before we head anywhere right now (which is why we’re staying put).
Sounds like you have AMAZING PLANS! I expect lots of pics so I can live vicariously through you! 🙂
Sounds like a nice few months! I really want to go to Portland too. Seems like my kind of place.
Looking forward to reading all about your next adventures!
I can totally relate about getting itchy feet though. We haven’t left the country since April (!!) and have nothing real big planned until November.
Once I come back and settle down in the US, Austin and Portland are the first places I plan on visiting!
The waterfalls just outside of Portland are pretty amazing!
Ok – so don’t you dare leave Portland without eating at Mai’ Pho – one of the food carts on 10th & Alder. Here in L.A., we have a fairly large Vietnamese community, but I’m telling you, I haven’t been able to find pho as good as the pho at Mai’ Pho. Your tastebuds will thank me! 😉
I have just come back from the beautiful island of Koh Rong and am back at work now. My feet are already itchy again though, so I think I need to book my next little trip soon too!
Portland was pretty rad. I’m sure you would LOVE it.
We haven’t left since May and I’m dying. Like, sure, domestic travel is great and all but I LOVE international travel.
I wish we had more time to hike outside the city.
We have a pretty big Vietnamese community in Austin as well with some kick ass pho. I wish we would have made it but we just ran out of time (and were eating a gazillion things).
I think the little trips are going to help me but I feel the need to get out of the country. With Shaun tied down with a “real” job, I’m not sure when the next big opportunity will be. Until then, small things!
