While meandering our way around Segovia Spain in the rain, we came across this tunnel that not only protected us from the torrential downpour. Just for a moment it allowed us to experience a slice of Segovian life. There is nothing quite like the sound of rain softly hitting the cobblestones of the street in Segovia, Spain – a sound that doesn’t exist in the relatively new United States.
It is a stark reminder to look even into the smaller spaces with getting hopelessly lost in a new city. Stop and smell the proverbial roses.
This moment will stay with me forever.
Segovia is a quick train ride away from Madrid, Spain. If you’re looking for a day trip or city break, this is a fabulous place to come and visit. Sights include the Segovia Cathedral, beautiful Gothic architecture, gardens, museums, festivals, and fabulous cafes to drink some wine and people watch.
Segovia Spain
The climate is continental Mediterranean, cold and dry, resulting from the high altitude and the distance from the coast. The average annual temperature is 11.5 °C (52.7 °F), with an absolute minimum in December of −14 °C (6.8 °F) and maximum in August of 39 °C (102.2 °F). The annual precipitation is 520 mm (20 inches) per year, making the province a damp corner in the context of the region. The predominant forms of vegetation in the mountainous areas include pine, evergreen, oak, beech and juniper. – Wikipedia
I love the perspective on this photo and how you framed it. The cobble stone pathway does a nice job of tying it together.
Nice shot. Segovia is on my list of cities/towns to visit while I am in Spain this summer.
Cool picture! I like the colors and the contrast between the dark tunnel and the slick ground behind it.
@Nick: Thank you! My dad has this one framed on his desk. ♥
@Jaime: It is so amazing! While you can walk the main walk in one day, I would suggest at least 2 so you can explore all the cool shops.
@Mary R: Thank you! It was raining on us a good majority of the day so when it let up even just a bit I had to take advantage!
A great shot. Love the way you shot it like peaking into a brand new world feel.
@Sarah: Thank you! I had to stop Shaun and our guide because it totally caught my eye.
absolutely gorgeous! ’nuff said 🙂
