Travel Photography – Notting Hill Arts Club – London

Our first day in London was spent trying to adjust to the jet lag we were experiencing and talking to our friends about our potential plans for the next week. Our friends Doug and Steph (who live in London) were telling us about this swanky club that was hoppin’ on Sunday nights – The Notting Hill Arts Club. The colors in this bar were awesome and I couldn’t help myself in capturing some of them. 🙂

After a whirlwind night of hearing some really rad bands (even one called Orange from Italy), we finally got to see who the mystery headliner was… the one and only Glasvegas.

…if only a 6 foot tall 300 pound Brit wasn’t trying to squash me and was being a total asshole. My how I forget that there is live music etiquette in Austin. We actually decided to leave early for fear of being deported after what I was going to do to the guy.

Regardless, this was a really great venus. There is nothing quite like heading out bar hopping after a trans-Atlantic flight!
Notting Hill

The Notting Hill Arts Club is a music and arts venue in Notting Hill, central London, England. The club holds clubnights every night of the week. Its range of events covers everything from interactive crafts to themed Soviet nights, but perhaps most famous is its Death Disco clubnight, which is run by Creation Records founder Alan McGee. Big names such as Courtney Love and Mick Jones have been former guest DJs and The Guardian described it as “a haven for indie celebs and punk veterans”. –Wikipedia

  1. You just need a different camera. I got the d300s and the difference in low light situations is unbelievable. I got frustrated w/ the D80 after I struggled with it so much at the cemeteries at night during day of the dead in Mx. I loved that camera but seriously I couldn’t believe the difference with the D300s.

  2. @Beth: I would LOVE a D300s however its not in the budget right now. 😛 The more I shoot the more I realize the limitations. /sigh

  3. Hi Erica, this is a fab pic, really a good snapshot of ‘London life’. I’ve not been to this club but it looks pretty cool! If you have much more time in London I’d suggest some nice places to go, which are a bit outside of the main touristy areas and centre, and where you should also be able to get some lovely shots are: Hampstead / Hampstead Heath (great views), Little Venice, and the Canary Wharf, which is more of a business centre but worth it for the impressive buildings I think!
