Trail of Lights: Austin, Texas 2012

Trail of Lights

Merry Christmas Eve from Over Yonderlust! 😀

I thought I would bring you another Christmas tradition that I look forward to every year with my family.

Trail of lights

The Trail of Lights at Zilker park has been an Austin, Texas establishment for nearly 50 years. Due to the downturn in the economy, this was one of the first things the city cut funding to and due to various sponsors this year, it was revived for a week (after a 2 year hiatus!). There really is nothing like a fantastic display of lights to get into the Christmas spirit.

The only horrible thing is that we tried to go on the opening night with a 1 year old baby. They expected 25,000 people when 65,000 showed up. Five hours later (three of which were spent parking the car), we were back at home – but glad we made the effort. It really is a tradition that I love dearly.

It has been an interesting season back home. Christmas is so different when you’re catering to a toddler. Dare I say the magic is back?

That or I really missed twirling around in circles under the tree of lights and grabbing a huge cup of roasted corn.

Either way I had a smile on my face.
