Change is Never Easy

A somewhat new development in our journeys has occurred. And as you know, change is never easy.

To be as vague as possible (while providing details, of course!), our current place of employment has officially created two shells of people. While this can, and has been, a source of grief and general dissatisfaction with our current state in life, a positive outlook has been achieved. We no longer feel obligation to stay. Our focus will be to keep our heads down, handle the work we have been given, and concentrate on the blog and our dream to make it to South America.

Cubicle jobs (even in the video game industry) really aren’t my thing anyway.

So to lift our spirits, not only did we check out some backpacking equipment at Whole Earth Provisions – we’ll call it, intensive window shopping – but enjoyed Austin’s seasonal fare of crawfish/crawdads/mudbugs that come our way every Spring.

change is never easy

Expect our future posts to be about general preparation and experiences with getting ready to leave for a year to South America, along with our preparation for Burning Man 2010, here in August/September. Expect a whole bunch of growing pains around here with the fact that change is never easy!

Are any of you heading to Burning Man?

  1. Nice site!

I haven’t been to Burning Man but I’ve got a Burner friend or two. They’ve all had a great time.

South America sounds amazing! I’ve only been to Guatemala, which helped push me over the edge in realizing I could take a RTW trip. Look forward to hearing about your adventure!

  2. Thanks! I’m slowly trying to get all my pages up on the site. A wee bit overwhelming but the rest should be easy once we get that. Thank you for your kind words and I’m hoping these trips will only lead to more adventures!

  3. Looking forward to reading your South America plans. I’d really like to explore that more. Been to Argentina only and it opened a whole new world of travel places for me.

Where are you planning to go?

  4. Right now everything is quite tentative. While we have a little nest egg started for this, we’re nowhere near where we should be. 😛

We’re actually going to start in Costa Rica and work our way down to Argentina. While I would love to plan every moment of the trip, I know that things can change and I’m trying to MAKE myself be as flexible as possible – especially since I’m quite anal in regards to scheduling. I know we want to hit Machu Picchu, the salt flats in Bolivia, and Patagonia. My hubby says that he wants to experience the people, the food, and all those stamps on our passport. 🙂

When the time gets closer I’m definitely going to need a brain trust of other travelers for ideas, places to go, people to meet, etc.

  6. Thank you for your kind words! Funny thing, you’re the Nth person I’ve talked to lately that went to Guatemala. I wonder what draws so many people there.. I will definitely have to make a pit stop. 😀

  8. We’re planning on hitting as many places as possible but we’ll see! I can’t wait! My passport is going to be filled! EEEE!
