One of the first things I heard over the holiday season from an aunt I had not seen in years was, “Erica, you look so incredibly happy. You are so much more lively and peppy than the last time I saw you.” In all honesty, everything has changed this year since I started Over Yonderlust and became introduced to the warm and inviting travel community. And while I seriously contemplated doing the year in review, I cannot help but continue to look into the future. Thus, I bring you… GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS – Bring on 2011!
- Thanks to Todd Wassel and Amar Hussain, they have lit the fire of determination in my heart. I want to be able to meet the 1000-1000 challenge.
- Over Yonderlust will be turning 1 year old on March 15th-ish and I am so glad that I took the jump to start this blog when I did.
- We will be leaving for our trip in late March/early April starting our life changing, long term, travel plans in Guadalajara, Mexico.
- Shaun and I will be taking Spanish classes in Guatemala to assist in becoming fluent during our travels.
- We will be getting PADI certified in Honduras when we take our SCUBA lessons.
- Shaun is determined on learning how to surf. I may attempt to and fail but at least I can say I tried (If you saw how uncoordinated I was you would find it silly).
- We want to make sure to stop by Machu Picchu.
- I want to lick a glacier in Patagonia (a girl has GOT to have her priorities!).
- I want to get another picture in Getty Images. This time travel related.
So while 2010 treated us well and led us up to this upcoming adventure, we are so looking forward to what this next year will offer. We have so many hopes and dreams, many of which will be realized during our time abroad. Our time is now. BRING IT 2011!
Aww, sweetie. Happy NYE! You look super happy in the picture. I’m glad I met you through the wonderful blog community! 🙂 Looking forward to cross path and meet one day.
Happy New Year! Looks like travels make us happy… So my wish to you is for a year full of travels, adventures and discoveries 🙂
That’s amazing Erica! I am so happy for you!!! I hope everything comes out just the way you want it 🙂 PS what was your pic in Getty?? That is amazing!! Good for you 🙂
Ooh if you learn to surf in Nicaragua I have a great recommendation!
“lick a glacier in Patagonia” You crack me up. That’s the first time I’ve heard that goal… priorities right.
2011 is gonna totally kick ass!
Wow sounds like you have an amazing year ahead of you. I am so glad to have met you through twitter and gotten closer. You are for real awesome and I hope our paths do cross on the road.
2011 is going to be a BIG YEAR for us!!! EEEEeeee~
@Sarah: I would LOVE to meet up one day. Not sure when that would be, but still, would be nice.
@Giulia: Thank you! Same to you and may we all be blessed!
@Beth: I was so happy when I got into Getty. It is a shame that not everyone knows what it is so my celebration was quite… muted lol.
@Ayngelina: I’m not sure where we will surf but I will definitely hit you up! Do you have a school or teacher in mind?
@Nick: So I’m a little… different. 🙂 I almost want to hug a penguin but I’m afraid to get mauled. Erica died by a penguin mauling in Argentina…
@Jaime: GO BIG OR GO HOME! 😛 Let’s do this!
Happy New Year!!! BRING IT ON!!
yay! it’s THIS YEAR now!!! i know you’ll do them all and i’m so glad we *met* so i can hear all about it.
happy new year! 🙂
@Heather: ♥
@Lorna: I’m so excited! I still think you should make sure to stop by Argentina while we’re there. 🙂
Aw how exciting! Your 2011 is going to rock — I’ll be following!
licking a glacier made me smile
Hey Shaun and Erica, Happy New Years! I hope this year gives you everything your dreaming for. All the best – Scott and Dee
@Brooke: Thank you lovely!
@Michael: There are a few things on my “to do” list that are like that.
@Scott: You guys are so sweet. Thank you so much for your kind words.
You’ll have the time of your life this year!! We are sure you will love Latin America just as much as we do and you’ll have an amazing time! As we said before, we’d be happy to meet you guys somewhere along the way – and us being the slowest travelers on the planet, there’s a good chance that you catch up with us in South America sooner than you think 😉 All the best for 2011 and your travels!
@Gtg: I’m sure I will! I can’t believe we’re leaving in less than three months and I know the time is going to fly by. We would love to meet up! Travel bloggers are some of the most like minded people on the planet. ♥
You’re doing PADI stuff?! Cool! I really wanted to do this, but.. uh.. I am a terrible swimmer. TERRIBLE. Shh.. don’t tell anyone, I already get enough grief from Rachel. 😛
@Evan: Oh I’m pretty terrible. I need a life jacket when I am going to attempt to surf. I like to try anyway though. I’m terribad at many things… like walking.
I know we will.. hehehe
